What we build
We install brick paver patios, concrete paver patios, and natural stone patios in bluestone and flagstone. Most projects also include the pieces that make a patio feel finished: seating walls, borders, steps, and walkways that tie the patio to the rest of your yard.
How a patio project works
Every project starts with a visit to your yard. We talk through how you want to use the space, take measurements, and give you a design and a written quote. Once you approve it, the crew excavates, builds a compacted gravel base with proper drainage, and lays the surface you picked. The base is the part you never see, and it’s the part that decides whether your patio is still flat in ten years. Illinois winters are hard on shortcuts. We don’t take them.
What drives the price
Four things move the number more than anything else: the size of the patio, the material you choose, how easy it is to get equipment to the work area, and the extras like seating walls, steps, or a fire pit. Clay brick and natural stone cost more than concrete pavers. A sloped yard takes more base work than a flat one. When we quote, we break these out so you can see where the money goes and what you could trim if the first number is too high.
Common questions
How long does installation take? Most patios take three to five working days once the crew starts. Larger projects with walls and steps run longer, and we’ll give you a schedule before we begin.
Will it heave in winter? Not if the base is built right. Freeze and thaw cycles push shallow, poorly drained bases around. A properly compacted base with good drainage holds through Illinois winters.
Do I need a permit? It depends on your town. Some Lake County communities require one for hardscape work and some do not. We’ll tell you what your village requires before work starts.
How do I maintain it? Very little. Sweep it, rinse it, and top up the joint sand every few years. Sealing is optional and we’ll give you our honest take on whether your material needs it.
